LED upgrades / Facility review & fixture selection

Commercial Lighting Assessments in Indianapolis

Start with a clearer understanding of your existing lighting and the areas that need attention. Edge LED Lighting reviews commercial facility needs to connect fixture selection, layout and installation planning into a useful proposal.

Turn lighting concerns into a defined project scope

You may know where lighting is falling short without knowing which fixtures to specify. Dark rack aisles, monitor glare, inconsistent retail lighting or a poorly lit entrance are different problems. A facility review helps separate layout issues, aging equipment and installation constraints before an upgrade is recommended.

Tell us how your building is used, what has changed and which areas matter most. Existing drawings, fixture photos and operating schedules can be useful starting information. The depth of review depends on the project; requesting an assessment does not imply a certified inspection or a standard package of measurements and modeling.

01 / Project considerations

Inventory fixtures and understand the layout

Fixture quantities, lamp types, mounting heights and existing controls help establish what is installed. Where equipment is difficult to identify, accessible photos or labels can help. We also look at whether fixture locations still match current desks, racks, machinery, displays or exterior routes.

A warehouse review may focus on aisle geometry and lift access. An office may need attention to ceiling grids and viewing directions. Outside, pole or wall positions and neighboring properties shape the options. Square footage alone is not enough to select fixtures or establish a reliable installation scope.

  • Fixture types, quantities, age and visible condition
  • Mounting heights, obstacles and current room uses
  • Existing controls and available product information

02 / Project considerations

Consider coverage, comfort and planning needs

The brightest fixture is not necessarily the best answer. We consider distribution, color temperature, glare and the relationship between general and task areas. Share observations from the people who work in the space, especially when lighting concerns change with daylight, machinery use or operating hours.

Where useful, IES-based photometric planning can compare a proposed layout's expected illumination. Measurements or more detailed site information may be needed for some questions. We define the appropriate planning scope rather than promise a software layout with every proposal or guarantee that modeled values will match the finished site.

  • Task visibility, contrast and reported glare
  • Daylight, room surfaces and obstructions
  • Whether photometric modeling adds useful information

03 / Project considerations

Connect recommendations to installation conditions

A recommendation should account for how the work can actually be done. Ceiling access, racks, vehicles, tenant rules and existing electrical conditions affect the proposal. We identify information that still needs confirmation and discuss any work or specialist coordination outside the agreed lighting scope.

For suitable projects, our in-house installation team coordinates the planned upgrade with your facility contact. Potential utility-program eligibility can be discussed as a separate conditional factor, not a guaranteed reduction on the quote. The review should make proposed options and open questions easier to understand.

  • Access, occupied areas and scheduling constraints
  • Existing electrical and mounting conditions
  • Proposal assumptions, exclusions and next information needed

From your facility to a practical plan

  1. STEP 01

    Share your concerns

Describe the building, location and areas where lighting no longer suits the work. Start with the details you know.

  2. STEP 02

    Review existing conditions

Evaluate fixture information, layout, mounting, controls and access; discuss any further site information needed.

  3. STEP 03

    Develop suitable options

Compare fixture and planning approaches, define the installation scope and identify unresolved program or site questions.

  4. STEP 04

    Agree the next steps

Review the proposal and, if proceeding, coordinate the agreed work with our in-house installation team.

Questions before you begin

What should we prepare for a lighting assessment?

Provide your facility address, room or site uses and a description of the lighting problems. Existing plans, accessible fixture photos, counts and mounting heights help if available. You do not need to identify every fixture before contacting us.

Is this a certified electrical or safety inspection?

No such certification is implied. The review focuses on lighting needs, fixtures, layout and installation planning. Electrical conditions or other issues may require additional evaluation, which should be discussed separately rather than assumed to be included.

Does every assessment include a photometric model?

No. Modeling is considered where it helps answer layout or coverage questions. The appropriate scope depends on the site, information available and proposed changes. Any agreed deliverables should be stated in the proposal.

Can you review more than one area of our property?

Yes, tell us which interior and exterior areas you want to consider. Different areas may need different fixtures or planning approaches. We discuss priorities and the proposed scope rather than assume the entire property requires the same upgrade.
